Trekking


Trekking is a popular tourist activity in Nepal. According to conservative estimate, about a third of total tourists visiting Nepal with the sole purpose of trekking. Trekking is believed to have begun in the 1960s. WIth the conquer of some of the tallest peaks of the world in Nepal in 1960s, people, who cannot go to the mountains, started walking to the base camps of mountains, giving birth to a unique tourism product. Today, Nepal is synonymous with trekking among travelers throughout the world. Nepal has diverse trekking program that suits the need and choice of people of all walks of life. From challenging treks requiring trekkers to high passes to pleasing treks to vantage points of, say 3,000 meters, Nepal has it all. Great Himalaya Trail, which extends from Nepal’s eastern to western frontiers traversing foothills of different mountains, farflung hamlets, beautiful terraced land and lush forest, has been rated one of the best walks in the entire world.
